A lintel is a structural element in construction, used to carry loads over wall openings such as doors or windows. Its main task is to transfer loads from the upper part of the wall (e.g. subsequent floors) to the lateral parts of the wall on both sides of the opening, preventing the structure over the opening from collapsing. They can be made of various materials, such as concrete, steel, wood or stone. The choice of material depends on the design and aesthetic requirements of the project.
